I have an R800 - the A4 version of the R1800. Mine clogs frequently too. Big disappointment.
I got some cartridges prefilled with cleaning fluid (can't remember where from). They helped a bit, but didn't completely clear the blockages.

My experience with Epson printers (i'm on my 4th) currently using a 1400 for prints and my old R300 with cheapo CISS for general stuff (till the ink runs out)
Anyway, I had lots of trouble with the first two (cant remember the models) then a guy at a computer fair where I picked up my cartridges said it was incompatability between the original Epson ink and the third party brands, he reckoned traces of Epson ink from the original cartridges reacted with the new inks and the only solution would be wait it out or a thorough cleaning.
My R300 never ran with the original Epson cartridges as the CISS was instaled for me when I bought the printer, It has run flawlessly for years, the only problem with it now is the print head is no longer sealing when it returns to rest and the inks are draining back into the reservoir.
My 1400 has had the privilage of genuine Epson cartridges from day 1 and so far I have not had any problems, it has been left for as long as four weeks with no activity with no problem.
Hope this helps.

I Have an Epson R1800 A3 printer (second hand). I run a ciss system. This printer is great and is used daily but even though it’s used daily it still clogs frequently
I was looking on line for info on the clogging issue that come with this printer and found a system that you add blank cartages and fill them with a cleaning fluid??
Has any one used this system and is it worth investing in??
For now I have just put screen and keyboard cleaner in a straw and put some drops on the pad(tank) this seems to have worked for now (but it was after a day of trying to clean it with nozzle check and clean that is within the maintains program
Here is the link for the cleaning product I have found

Well I'm pleased to say after cleaning the tank pads with the cleaner it's now working great I have also raised the inks 2.5mm off the desk to aid ink delivery.
This is the first time I've had a good print patten woohoo Time will tell but for now it's looking good and I've saved my self £400.00 on a new R1900

I use original epson inks, have owned about a dozen epson models.
not had that problem for years.
here's two tips that will hopefully help:
I always use epson inks and usually epson paper (also hanemule but less often)
always turn the printer off when not in use, I never leave my printer sitting for hours in the 'On' position as it needs to park the printheads to prevent the ink from drying and clogging the printheads...

Fired many shots. Didn't kill anything.
