Hi Don,

I'd seen something similar elsewhere on the web and I thought I'd give it a try, makes a change.

The furthest north we got was Currumbin for the wildlife sanctuary (which is where I got the kangaroo shot). We were staying in Alstonville near Lismore which is where our son lives. Lovely area.

This Tasmanian Devil was also at the sanctuary -

and this Quokka

neither of which I'd ever seen before.

Have you seen one of these up your way? Nobody round where we stayed had seen one nor knew what it was.

Cheers,

Howard

I'm sure my bird expert namesake in New Zealand might have known with more certainty (http://www.radionz.co.nz/collections/john-kendrick), but I believe the bird to be a female Pheasant Coucal.

Thanks John, interesting article on your namesake. I, too, after a lot of googling have decided that it is a pheasant coucal. Possibly female but it could be a male in non-breeding plumage.

Cheers,

Howard

Yes you are right about the pheasant, not seen one for a while but they are about.
Nice shot of the devil,a Tasmanian native now in dangered because of a facial cancer.
You have to remember most of our native wildlife is nocturnal .
C&C welcome.
Don.

Thanks Don and Peter for your comments.

It took a while to get the photo of the Tasmanian Devil as he kept going round and round his enclosure, it seemed as if he was terribly bored.

Cheers,

Howard

I've enjoyed all of these as they are from a place I am very nlikely to visit. It great that photographers can bring these far flung places to my computer screen.
