George,I think that your last comment was fair and well said, can I say that I have had some bad experience with ebay, those experiences stay with me,and I do not have the confidence to use ebay anymore.
Of course, I hope my "prejudices" haven't offended anyone on the forum.

You obviously forgot my golden rule! But I wasn't offended, and with Ebay I think it helps not to be too trusting of one's fellow man. That, I am sure, was your problem. If you have used Ebay just a few times and have bad experiences, then that might be your technique, or it might just be bad luck.
If you have used Ebay dozens of times and had a number of bad experiences, then that is down to your technique. Buying on Ebay is more about identifying a good seller than identifying a good item.

There are plenty of good eBay sellers, some of whom get ridiculous negative feedback from time to time from very poor buyers, but if you read between the lines it can usually be sussed out.
There was one seller who is a member here who I could not believe could possibly ever get a negative, but who did. I followed across to the buyer's ratings, and lo and behold all the buyer's failings were there to be seen, neatly coloured red. That must have been very galling for an excellent seller.
So I agree with knowing the seller and checking out the record. Of course new sellers equally excellent also have to start somewhere, so sometimes we need to take a chance as well.

I'm happy to take a chance on a new seller, but not for a lot of money. So new sellers are well advised to start with low value items and work up.

Classified Ads will have to be monitored more closely because they are getting very clogged up with chatter and commentary that has nothing to do with the sale.
When they go off track any non-relevant posts are likely to be removed. It's very unfair on sellers and potential buyers if there's a mass of posts from those not intending to buy.
Caveat Emptor in all cases of course, but jumping to conclusions isn't right either.
One simple way around this would be to make classifieds "locked topics" ie; a member can post a for sale or wanted topic but no-one can reply to the thread, prospective buyers can contact the poster via PM if interested.Classified Ads will have to be monitored more closely because they are getting very clogged up with chatter and commentary that has nothing to do with the sale.

As for new members joining simply to sell items, it does seem a little ludicrous that one of the benefits of subscribing to Pentax User Magazine is access to free classifieds, yet non subscribers get them for free via the forum anyway

There aren't many Classifieds in the magazine these days, I guess the way people sell has moved on.

Amin, sorry, my mistake, I was merely reflecting on the comment that was suggesting you were being less than wise.
sorry for mistake

Now regarding the K7 camera it has been put to rest now. A long conversation with one of our friendly and efficient admins and the matter has been totally clarified in detail.
I never hesitated to lay down the specifics of my meeting with the seller. My only issue is that I do not think I should nor need to put it down here in the open forum anything that would jeoperdise or favour prospects for the seller. People do make wild guesses about why I ended up not buying the K7 and they are entitled to do so. If they need my personal view regarding it they could always PM me, or approach one of the friendly administrators
Nice talking to you Ken and thank you for the brilliant advice regarding lenses. Reshuffling my camera bag again to include the 50mm prime and the 16-45mm
