£14 for a Hoya seems rather cheap.

There are a lot of fakes out there and you do need to be careful especially on auction type sites.
that was my concern, SRS prices for Hoya:- 62mm standard CPL £36.99, slim:-£54.99

Clifton Cameras price for Marumi:- 62mm slim CPL £46 + £2.50 p&p

both reputable dealers. there are others around this mid price range but have no personal knowledge of how good/bad they are.

I'd have to agree with this, Hoya in particular seem to be targeted by Asian garden shed manufaketories. If you buy one buy it from a reputable shop (like SRS) and you should be fine.
