Well I paid for PTLens anyway - great product
It includes the Tokina 12-24mm lens, which bears a striking similarity to the SMC-DA 12-24mm in terms of correcting distortions.

PTlens tells me that my Tamron 28-200 is a Pentax 16-45... Wishfull thinking...
Hmm in a lot of cases it mistakes the 18-55 as a 16-45 as well. The EXIF data does contain the right info.

I've been reading a lot about CA and ways to fix it, since the SMC-DA 12-24 in some circumstances shows CA - most importantly the amount and type of CA varies according to f-stop and brightness, which is probably why I've been having such a pain of a time correcting with Panotools (though I haven't given up yet!!).

Think I'll probably pay for PTLens, find a decent test target and get all the Pentax lenses I own profiled - that way everyone can benefit
