Picture of my son Christopher from earlier tonight.
Can anyone see anything wrong with it?
Might just be my eyes playing tricks on me or the fact im new to the K20D.
Wont say what it is i think im just curious if anyone else can see it.

Nice pic Craig. Would it be what looks to be a white hair at the top of the image next to the tree.

Nothing to do with surroundings guys.
Subjects Skin Tones to be more precise.

You've probably got a very little hair on the sensor.

If you set the sensor to shake when the camera is turned on chances are it will be gone now.If its a bit more stubborn you'll have to get out the rocket blower

If you mean maybe the palish skin tones, to me it doesn't look like the lighting would be ideal for great skin tones.

More to do with the Pinkish / red cast i seem to be seeing.
Any ideas what is causing it?
Just to point out also i had to desat the red channel by around -24 in CS4 as his t-shirt was incredibly oversaturated.

Can't really see it myself TBH.

Not sure this would be totally down to the lens either.

Yeh i cant see the lens being the issue.
Ive done some PP and the Magenta channel for some reason is a mile off.
In order to correct it i need to Desat 100% magenta in Camera Raw then Desat 100% in CS4 then save to jpeg and desat a further 77%. Downside of that is it kills the lips, etc.
Weird as hell, will have to take a few more tomorrow just in case it was some weird lighting that was causing it but as everything else looks pretty much spot on im kinda confused about it.

Putting it down to some weird natural lighting as i looked at another where he is turned more to the left. (very slightly) and there is no sign of it in that one.

alot of green plus reflections off the red shirt might throw off auto color...use a greycard and set your color balance manually.
seems a tad over exposed as well.
set your color saturaion to "Neutral" as it seems a little saturated for portrait work...
Fired many shots. Didn't kill anything.

The only criticism I could offer if I were to nit pick is that the plane of focus seems to be somewhat in front of your subject. That's adjustable on the K20D if it's a real problem rather than 'operator error'

Yes, skin tone is pale but I would expect that if you've had to desaturate the red channel in PP.

Put a plant pot full of variously coloured flowers in your garden, then snap then at different times of the day and under differing lighting conditions, then try and snap them as a the sky clouds over and a thunderstorm approaches and reproduce any of the aforetaken shots/colours....IMPOSSIBLE!

Dont worry about about your sons red top in this shot, take him wearing it again tomorrow at high noon and I bet the the red is a different colour/hue/saturation etc etc etc

Reds are notorious for digital sensors to reproduce anyway (as are yellows if I'm not mistaken) several shades of red may come out as one "block" under the "wrong" lighting conditions.
I wouldn't worry about this shot or your camera, different lighting affects different colours, lets face it you wouldn't photograph a black cat in a coal cellar at night just keep snapping away and learn what happens when and try and remember it for the next similar shot.

Focal Plane is more than likely operator error, i didnt desat the reds in that also he is quite pale, i will post the one with him slightly to the left.
