Watching the rather grizzly main story on the news today, I saw the now familiar scenes of newspaper photographers, running alongside the prison van, with their cameras held high to the tiny, dark tinted windows, firing away, flashes popping and presumably on AF. You see this happen whenever a notorious criminal is driven to, or from court. I wonder if it works.
I have never seen a picture in the papers of the accused, taken in this way, so maybe they never get anything. But they keep doing it, so maybe it is worth a try.
The accused is in custody, and the van is not a public place, so are the photographers actually breaking the law by trying to get the shot, anyway?

They are accredited journos and things are different for them.
I've seen the snaps through the windows and yes it does work.

They generally do it as the van leaves court on the highway. So no offence. Not worth the copper's time to hassle the press. Can't see them doing it on court grounds as they'd be in contempt or breaking some law.

I guess they have pot luck in getting the right window. Also the "perp" might have their head between their knees. I know I would having seen these vans fly past me on the A30, one crashed not that long ago and I wasn't surprised.

Oh, yeah!. I should have known they wouldn't bother, if there was little chance of it paying off. Must be powerful flashes they use.

They seem to have cables running to powerpacks. They look like standard 50+ GN flashes.
