Tried putting into practice some of the guidance from a Tim Wallace training video.

Both images were tweaked slightly in PSE10 just to eliminate a couple of reflections, reduce some highlights and brighten some shadows.

nice and clear, did you have some lights under the seats?

Yes I used a total of 3 speedlites.

One on the back seat 'bounced' off the headlining and one under each seat aimed forward.

The underseat ones were on 1/64 power.

The shots were taking in the middle of the afternoon in broad daylight on my driveway.

You had obviously spent a lot of time cleaning and preparing the inside of the car. There are a few minor things that catch the eye and they could have been eliminated or tweaked - in fact all except the first are almost very minor.

The "Yellow thing" peaking through the steering wheel, the green object on the right hand end of the dashboard, the gear lever looks wrong - could you have put it in N or D? the tax disc holder could be photoshopped out, remove the keys and finally take out the passenger footwell mat (or at least vacuum in straight lines).

There are also a couple of little light flares that could have been toned down a little - for example of teh glove box in image 2.

Gamka. Thanks for the comments, all very good points except one. The gear lever was in 'Drive'. I think it looks okay in the side shot but doesn't look right in the wide view. It probably would have been better in 'N' as this would have shown more of the jaguar 'J' gate.

I will also be honest and say that it was cleaned and vacuumed out at the local 'Hand Car wash' so I shall blame them for the hoover lines However you are right in that I should have taken the passenger mat out as well.

Your points do go to show just how a shot can be spoilt by details.

I last had a Jag back in 2007 so it was a partial guess about where it was in the wide view.

I was looking at it as if I was judging both car and photograph and deducting points for "blemishes" in both. There was another recent set of car pictures, a Mini, where the spokes on the wheels were not aligned and the name was upside down - minor but a small adjustment would have corrected it. One I missed on yours is that the steering wheel is not straight ahead.

I have seen teams preparing a vehicle for a full promo/advertising shot and display and the amount of time taken along with almost pettiness is unbelievable.


And I make similar mistakes in my pictures too - they are never perfect and I spend plenty of time finding the blemishes afterwards.

I know nothing about this subject, but for me the lighting in the footwells seems a little high, it's drawing my eyes to them.

I'm being very picky though, much better than I would get if I tried the same thing.

I wish I'd seen these before I looked around a Jag earlier in the year, it took me AGEs to find that stupid bonnet catch on the wrong side!
