Hi I thought I would say hi. Had an old pentax 35mm back in the day. I thought I would move up from my bridge camera so I bought a k50 just got it today.
Still learning the basics again. Got the two lens set seem to work well. I still have my old lenses tried the old 50mm after reading this I can't seem to be able to set the apature just get two red lines try moving the front and rear dial donsent do any thing to set the apature ( no A on the apature ring ) I will have to try again latter. I hope to learn a lot here
the main reason I bought the camera was to take better pictures of my grandchildren.

Welcome to this forum.

With older lenses without the "A" setting on the aperture ring you have to use stop down metering. Set the aperture you want on the lens, set the camera to manual mode, compose the scene, press the green button to set the correct exposure, focus the lens then press the shutter button.

Hope this helps

Welcome from Manchester. I went from SP1000 via bits and bobs to a K50 too. Still learning with it, but so far it's great.
Come and see the beautiful things I see in the ordinary world.
