What a nice site this is!!

I came here with no photographic knowledge, just knowing that I wanted to take better photos.

People have given me great tips, no-one has criticised my photos, (even though by comparison to your standards I know I'm a novice).
You even gave me the confidence to have a go at last week's competition.

So....Thanks for the welcome guys!!
Getting there! Thanks to you guys

I agree - it is a really nice site

Some other forums (whatever the subject matter) can be somewhat 'less than civilised'

I second the above. I have been on a lot of forums in the past. Mostly camera related, and from day one I became a member here I felt at home.
A great exception, if you look at other forums
So.....,Applause for all the members and moderators who make this forum of what it is today. Let's not take it for granted.
Martin.
Best regards,

Martin.

Not only do I find this forum friendly and educational, it is also one of the better technically. Easy to navigate, and fast.
Best regards

I can't believe they haven't banned me!javascript:emoticon('')
(not like those other stupid places..)....javascript:emoticon('')

It is nice to have a place where everybody is friendly, nobody has restraining orders, where Jerry Springer (speaking of American TV) isn't lurking or trolling for guests...

Fired many shots. Didn't kill anything.

Yep, this newbie seconds your sentiments, Father Ted!

So nice to have found a community, to go along with this great craft of photography. Thanks for being generous and gracious, as well as fine photogs, folks!

Ban coming right up....

(Only kidding Don!)

PUFA is a common complaint... I'm trying to wean myself off a little

Other useful sources of friendly information are held at the sister site: www.ephotozine.com
That's a much wider base for getting critique on photos. However, their techniques section has a LOAD of useful information (several Photoshop tutorials written by me too )
And if that isn't enough, there's also www.ephotozine.tv where there are shed loads of videos on all subject - photography, lighting, post production, Photoshop etc.

Enjoy
