Camera or Lens stabilisation ?

Which gives better results?

Pentax K-5 with Sigma 50-500mm. Pictures are unprocessed apart from being converted to jpeg and cropped to a similar size.

Interested to see what people think.

I don't see too much difference between them. The sharpness seems to identical for me in both case. But it seems the set 'A' has a bit more contrast.

Not your fault, but an unfair question unless you have two monitors side by side to caompare the shots

If i had to call one I'd say A is the better of the two Mate. What focal length and shutter speed?

No significant difference, IMO. No.2 seem fractionally sharper, but it may just have a smidge more contrast, and both shots are plenty sharp enough.

I suppose you need to push the stabilisation towards the limits of what it can cope with to prove which is better. What shutter speed did you use? Did you take a non-SR / OS shot as a comparison?

No exif viewer in your browser?

Both are exactly the same.

Exposure Time (1 / Shutter Speed) = 1/350 second ===> 0.00286 second
Lens F-Number / F-Stop = 8/1 ===> ƒ/8
ISO Speed Ratings = 1100
Exposure Bias (EV) = 1/2 ===> 0.5
Focal Length = 500/1 mm ===> 500 mm

Not that I'm aware of where do I look? ie9 by the way Mate.

Depends which browser you are using, do a google search for exif viewer plugin for whichever ... makes life a lot easier.

Too close to call.... they could be consecutive shots at the
same settings it's that close. A does look slightly better
but that doesn't mean anything.

1/350th is probably too fast anyway.

Personally once they are processed with a little sharpening and contrast I don't think anyone would be able to tell the difference.

Sort of shoots the Canikon users down a bit that say that in lens SR is better at long focal lengths though.

"A" does appear to have more contrast which is the biggest difference between the two

I can only put that down to a slight shift in angle (notice the orange flower is at a different position) because I doubt SR would make such a difference.

I vote for B beause the blurring of the flowers looks less. But that could be, as you suggest, the flowers are in a different arrangement.

Essentially there is nothing in it.
