Hi, haven't spoken for a while, bought a samsung gx10 but Im afraid I sent it back, just couldn't get on with it. it constantly underexposed by quite a serious amount, and just didn't feel right, I have now bought a k100d with sigma 18-125mm lens so should give me a nice walkabout lens without too much changing lenses all the time. should arrive thursday hopefully I will get on ok with this one

The K100D is a lovely camera. I bought it as a backup body for my K10D but to be honest, I like it more than the K10D although it misses easy access to some settings (e.g. metering modes).

Congrats and I hope you enjoy it.

Thanks I seemed to have tried quite a few lately and I am hoping this will be ok, seems to get lots of good reviews, I was going to get one of these a while ago and then thought about a bridge, got very confused, then couldn't decide, but hopefully i will be happy with this.

I think it needs screw-drive AF lenses. Any KAF3 lenses that only have SDM AF will only be useable in manual focus.

A k100d will not accept SDM lenses, if I remember right. Considering they're all DA*, I doubt you have much to worry about.

17-70mm is not a DA*

Anyway, think its only the 17-70mm and 55mm that are lacking screw drive?

Jacqui is it a 'normal' K100D, or a K100D Super?

oh ok phew! don't think that will be too much of a problem. any info on the sigma 18-125mm lens that is coming with it? thought it would make a nice all round lens without too much changing.

DC = Direct Current
Instead off SDM that an ultrasonic engine is Pentax has now put a brush-less direct current engine in their new lens.
