Cable or remote?

The cable allows you to auto-focus before shutter release. It is also lockable for Bulb explosure. IIRC, the IR remote doesn't allow for either, just shutter release.
I use the "Hama Remote Control Release CA-1" cable on my GX10.

On the K10D, go into the menu, go to the Custom settings, scroll down until you get to AF in remote control and set it to on. You will then have the Autofocus work before the shutter fires using the remote control!

I have both for my Ds, but only because the remote doesn't work from behind. On the K10D it does, so I would probably go for that, but it depends on how you want to use it.
I can't imagine taking macro shots with the remote for instance, but who knows? Once you've tried it it may seem very natural. If not you can get a generic cable release for a few quid.
I too have a generic cable release. Mine is one for Canon but it works with Pentax too.
