Burnham on sea, my second home as I have a caravan there, one place to take pics is brean down takes a while to get up there if you have heart trouble forget it. Once at the top walk down towards the sea their is a bit of history down their. The wooden lighthouse is a must exspecilly when the sun goes down, on sundays a steam train comes through burnham at ten mins past ten find the line its a mile before burnham just past home farm caravan site, have a good holiday.

Most of my folks live in and around Burnham.

In addition to the above recommendations, have a walk up Brent Knoll (5 mins drive from Burnham). It is the large hillock just north of the town. There are great views from up there across the channel to Wales, north towards Weston, east across the Mendip hills towards Chedder and Wells (a second vote for the cathedral by the way), south towards the Quantock hills and straight up on starry nights with lttle light pollution for views of the stars.

The Red Cow pub in Brent Knoll village at the base of the Knoll has good food and beer.

The Quantock hills and Exmoor just west of Taunton, heading out towards Minehead are great for walking and are picturesque; the north Somerset coast west of Watchet is fab for long beaches, sea views, fossil hunting by the cliffs etc. The best way to see all of this is to take the West Somerset Railway from Bishops Lydeard to Minehead (40 mins drive to Bishops Lydeard from Burnham).

Enjoy the hols.

Last time i was in that area, I stumbled across sand yacht racing on the beach at Brean on a Sunday morning.

Well here I am sat in a caravan at sunny Burnham on sea. Pentax gear maybe weather resistant but I don't think it is up to the job here, I can honestly say I have never seen so much rain in all my days.

Bad luck, Mike. Any prospect of improvement in the weather?

Open another bottle is my advice - beer, wine spirits - it doesn't really matter.

Well last night saw the biggest thunderstorm I have ever witnessed and was accompanied by even more rain than my previous post. Yesterday evening I had the chance of a reasonable sunset so got to a decent point where I was greeted by the horizon having a thick blanket of cloud to the left and totally clear to the right.

You guessed it ... the sun set approx 5 feet to the left of centre ... and was totally covered by the cloud.

Back home now .... never again.
