Brian Haw, A Portrait

This is a portrait of Brian Haw, which I took today (24/08/09), while in Westminster. He has been protestin' the war in Iraq as well as the governments actions over it, ever since it started.

BTW, i've not known anyone who looks more like Clint Eastwood than he does.

Not your best to my mind as I am desperate to see his eyes and the beard isn't sharp while the badges which are so inhuman are. That said I can only envy your skill at these shots and wish I could do the same.

The eyes were not important to me in this shot Mike, it was more for what he stood for ie, the badges on his hat.

Of course, I agree with you Mike.

Maybe it's more Photo Journalism than Portrait. Which shifts the way it's viewed.

But you have a hint of the eyes ...

Also now I think of it wouldn't it be better with Pauly's excellent B&W conversion?

Thats a very interesting shot,I like it.

I like it and think it is brilliant, needs colour to bring out the age in the badges alone, cool shot, nice DOF too.

Mike, I had no hestitation in keepin' this one colour. It does look good in B&W, but the colour is better for obvious reasons.

I enjoy your portraits and your B&W conversion shots and I think this one is another well interpreted shot. Your focus on the badges tells a poignant story more so than concentrating specifically on the man. Did you consider PP on the background to black as I think this gives added focus on the badges?
