Brathay Morning

Just back from a weeks hols in the Lake District and starting to work through the images

Here are some taken handheld with the 18-135, walking down the River Brathay after photographing dawn over Elterwater.

As always C&C most welcome, although I do know some of these are (nicely) soft

I like number one best and would probably mess around with a black and white to bring out the "smoke on the water"

Composition looks fine to me but they are all a bit green for my tastes. I've never liked green grass (no TJ jokes) so usually bring them down a notch. They just seem a bit dominant in the frame

I'll have a play with B&W for the first one - that's a good idea . The green hasn't been boosted on these - it's just the way it came out - but I'll see what they're like if I bring it down a notch.

Couldn't agree more about the first image it seems to have everything. Would love to have taken it (especially as it means I'd have been on Holiday hehe)

Agreed on No 1, it has just about everything. Great atmosphere & subdued lighting make it. Did you get any from that position just a little wider?

I like all the others, not so much the tree close-up - nice compositions (the lone duck one is great!). I'm seeing rather bright greens though, look a bit too glowing for the conditions - I'm sure its a minor tweak.

I would have liked to go wider, but immediately to the left of the frame there was a yellow dump truck, parked up next to some path re-building works. Rather spoilt the ambience

Not sure I prefer this to the colour version. Found it difficult to emphasise the mist in a B&W conversion

Lovely images Tim, I particularly like the first and last, with the colour version of the first one preferred to the BW.

They don't look soft to me, just beautiful.
