I only wish it was a K5

I wanted an old, cheap compact, primarily as Emily is going on a school trip to Germany this year. She'll want to take photos, and with an old camera if it goes missing it won't be the end of the world.

I spotted an Optio 33LF on Ebay for £12. I finally got it for £15. It's a decent little camera and image quality isn't bad considering it is a 3.2 mP camera. It also seems to have a few nice toys on it, but then, it is Pentax

I think this can stay in the car with me for any chance photo oppurtunities
Getting there! Thanks to you guys

Pentax K3ii, Pentax K10d, Kit lens ( 18-55mm ), 50mm f1.7 lens, Tamron 70-300mm lens, Prinzflex 70-162 manual lens, Various old flashes.

Unfortunately it'll only take 512Mb cards and they are rare as rocking horse muck these days ( anyone selling any? ).
Not sure whereabouts in Germany yet. I'm sure we'll find out before June.
Getting there! Thanks to you guys

512s? why that small? SD itself was supported all the way up to 2GB... I have a 1GB and a couple of 2GBs here. Can send them over to be tested?

I can also find 512s new... link: http://www.verkkokauppa.com/popups/prodinfo.php?id=16779

the store's round the corner from work. LMK if you want one or two.

Doing exactly the same thing but with film. When the weather warms up a bit I'll be keeping a scruffy MV1 in the car.

It's an old camera. 2Gb wasn't available when it was new.
It will work with 1Gb, but sometimes won't switch on properly. Works every time on 512, so I'll stick to them. But thanks for the offer

I can let you have a 128mb card, Ted, if I can find it! When I started out (with a 3.2mp Ricoh) 512mb cards were really pushing the limits of storage capacity... Seems pathetic now

For snapshots 3.2mp did me fine, and I even printed at around A4 a few times. Makes you wonder why people who don't print at large sizes think they need 14mp compacts, really.

That's very kind! I'll take you up on that

I know what you mean about memory limits.
I remember paying £40 for a 512Mb USB clip drive a few years back. Now 2Gb ones are being given away by our suppliers as marketing! (Whatever happend to a ballpoint or coaster? )
Getting there! Thanks to you guys

I should really have checked first Ted! Used to be in the SatNav, but I just canna find it anywhere now. I did see a 512mb card for 1.50 in my local CEX though, and would be more than happy to send it on.

Father Ted - I've a 128 SD card you can have if you wish. It's not in use now

I think the 512 must have gone to a grandchild when I handed over an HP camera to them
let the education continue
