Can anyone let me know their thoughts on the MZ-6? My MZ-3 was sent back to Pentax for repair under warranty and it seems to have "gone missing" in the post on the way back to the shop. Thanks Royal Mail. Again.

So, given that the MZ-3 is sadly no longer in production, I'm wondering if I'll be offered a '-6 in its place.

I don't think I like the controls on the MZ-6, but apart from that, would people say it's as good as the -3?

The *ist is out as I've got a bunch of M lenses that won't work, which leaves just the MZ-S... which is pricey.

Hi,
It depends on how they settle. If you get a sum of money, a good S/H MZ-S wouldn't be much more than a new MZ6 and IMHO is a much better camera especially if you don't like lots of automation. I have both the MZ3 and the S and I find that despite the "automatics", the S is much easier to use and very intuative. The MZ6 will cover everything that the 3 will plus some more although it is aimed more at programed operation. One advantage of the 6 is that it more in common with the 3/5 such as the same battery grip. The S has it's own dedicated grip which is a bit prcey and not as available. Alternatively, why not try to get a good S/H 3 and use the balance for other bits!

Regards
Kim

Every cloud has a silver lining! Kim's suggestion was a good one.
