Beautiful colours, focus, sharpness and overall quality.

The first one, the top right corner bothers me - have you tried a square crop? Lose more to the right than the left and I think it might work.

The second one - I find the out of focus areas are distracting.

The third one is the least successful IMO - have you tried desaturating a bit (more). I don't think the composition works for me at all.

Super work Tim. I love abstracts but I'm not sure many people react well to them. These make a great comparison to my dirty decaying shots of the Boys' Village. Yours are so clean and sharp. (No algorithm problems for you!!)

Well done!

Andrew

Aaaah, lovely work, Tim!
Blinds are very nice for abstracts because of their regular patterns. The single blades on this one have a nice structure on top of that, so very nice.
I think I prefer the first two, although I appreciate that the light pattern on the wall should really get me excited. Alas, it doesn't, intriguing as it is.
Just saw Mike's comment and it also seems not to ring his bell...

No.3 is my fave.

Thanks guys!

I can see that number three might not be for everyone, but I quite like the jagged line of light down the edge of the blinds. The shadows didn't work so well, I think there is a leafy tree outside that window.

I like 1 & 2 (too), Tim. Also am with Mike on the top right corner (though I'm not sure a square crop is the answer).

Think #3 is my fav. Just love the play of light and not too much repetition of parallel lines. For me, the fist two are a bit stark and intruding.
Best wishes,
Stephen
I gladly welcome C & C's. Being foggy minded they really help me learn.

I like them all Tim.

I also think we have the same blinds!
If you can't say something nice about Pentax, you won't say anything at all.

Apparently.

Thanks folks!

Robbie they're not my blinds, I take a lot of photos for an estate agent in my town, these were in a vacant house. They were nice ones though, make a good photographic subject, you should try 'em out

The 3rd one is least successful as an abstract because you can tell what it is fairly easily.

I'd rotate the image & convert to b&w to confuse the viewer.

As always, if you object to me altering your image, I'll remove it asap.

Don't lose the colour from the first two though as the tones are warm & sumptuous. I saw your square crop on flickr before seeing this thread & I think the advice to crop was sound.

Oops, my mistake. From memory I thought it was a square crop on flickr. My brain is fried after working some long hours !

What lens did you use for this Tim ? It has a very pleasant rendering quality.

Than ks Greytop and Stefan!

Rob I like your BW conversion, the black blinds look great!

These were taken with the Tamron 17-50.
