Blank Rear Screen

My wife uses an Optio E40 which she thinks is the Bees' Knees.
However, in the last couple of days, it does not show the live image except in Green mode. Any other mode, auto, landscape, etc. does not show an image on the screen. The camera captures an image but it really is Point (and hope) and Shoot.
It displays the images in Playback and shows the image prior to capture, as I said, in Green mode.
Any thoughts will be much appreciated.
