Please beware of a dodgy private message what members may receive via these forums, i know most people are sensible and will delete it, i got one this morning and that was promptly deleted, its from some person who wants bank details so they can share a inheritance with you.

I just love these idiots.

How do they get away with it when their spelling and grammar are so bad?

Or is this a 'security;check from a bank you don't use?

As the title says, beware.

But what is even more stunning is that some people do fall for it and then complain that their greed has led to problems!

Have you sent details to the admin team? Thay can they bar/remove the sender.

Or maybe tell us who it was that sent it.

Have all ways been puzzled why Banks I have never used are threatening to close my account and relatives I have never heard of fetch up and die in a country I did not know existed, when the Banks I do use never communicate with me and none of my known relatives are worth a bean.

The user was banned as soon as I saw the message yesterday.

Slighty off topic; but I thought I may as well mention it.

A common scam at the moment involves PayPal. This has happened twice to me now and each time I was selling a mobile phone handset.

The winning bidder sends a PayPal like email stating that you've recieved funds and to dispatch the item immediately. The email is branded correctly and could be very convincing to someone who does'nt use Paypal that often. As a matter of rule I always check my account directly rather than what an email states.

I can't see this happening with camera equipment...but you never know.

It's not always greedy people who get caught out by these scams - there are plenty of vunerable people who may fall for it, by being too trusting or maybe not understanding.

Saying that, the scams do still make me chuckle. I had this problem the other day with an advert I posted on Gumtree looking for a place to rent. I got a couple of emails offering somewhere, and on asking for details was sent some photos. I then asked if I could see the places and was told that I had to transfer £1000 to a trusted friends account, scan the Western Union reciept to him to "show that I was serious" about being interested.

I replied I'd rather transfer the money straight to him to show I was REALLY interested, but I think I myself was sprung and never heard back.

In hindsight his email address was I'm not a huge footbal fan but even I thought that was a funny coincidence), the english was poor and the photos were very low res.

I once recieved one offering me a share in 10,000 Terrys Chocolate Oranges. Most tempting one ever. mmmmmmmm

Oh bugger, I had already started spending the money...
