Better prints at home

Hi all

For those of you who want to try your hand at printing, or already do but are looking to get better, more predictable results, we've been building an online 'how to print' that aims to collate lots of useful, up-to-date printing wisdom in a single destination. It's a weighty task, but I've just put up Page two, which deals with Colour Management in a general way (Page one: The basics has been up for a while). Future updates will cover such topics as soft-proofing and digital black and white printing.

We're not aiming to be the most detailed, step-by-step guide on the web, but we do want to be among the best designed and most readable free resources for enthusiast photographers and printers. Yes, the site is an adjunct to our commercial printing enterprise, but my philosophy with the net is you should try to give back a little of what you get. I hope some of you find it useful - feedback will be most warmly welcomed!

The site is here: The Siskin Press | How to print: Part 1

Cheers

Visually, it's pleasing, and it's also written in plain but correct English - something of a rarity these days.

My only suggestion is that you might highlight important points which affect print quality, such as "The minimum desirable resolution for photographic printing is 1200 dpi".

All in all, a pretty good effort.

you could also link within the text to different parts of it. For example, the comment about "we'll deal with PPI and DPI differences later" could be linked directly to a section or glossary or popup dealing with the issue.

HTML doesn't have to be linear and works well when it isn't. I'd personally also suggest arranging the topics on shorter pages so you don't have to scroll.
