Benro flat tripod

Anyone tried one of these?

On the grounds that the best tripod is the one you have with you the flat tripod is an attractive proposition. An aluminium one would do, and the fact it doesn't go really low is not a problem.

I have an excellent Velbon CF tripod. Excellent in every way except when travelling. It takes up too much room in my case.
I could get something like a Travel Angel of course, but they too are triangular, and awkward to pack. I don't want to take it carry-on - some airlines allow them, some don't, and security people have been known to refuse them.

Dunno about that one - but PhotoMonk and I both have the MeFoto backpackers - same maker. They are nice and neat and come in their own bag.

We both like the one we have - mine is purple and they do take Arco Swiss plates

Thanks T-T. I've bitten the bullet and ordered the 55 pound one from SRS. A bargain price from what I have seen - even with the horrific postage charges to get it to me.

Just thought I'd say that the tripod arrived from SRS today, and it is a thing of beauty, in a neat case, and just perfect for packing in checked baggage without filling half the case.
