Bembridge Windmill, C&C please

Took these on a recent visit to the Isle of Wight. Still learning how to use the 12-24. At the wide end it seems to be a case of when you think you're too close, take another step! Took the first one for the shadow but now I don't feel it has the impact I was expecting. Perhaps because you can't see the sails so it isn't obvious what it is. ( Though that's often a good thing!) Should I have gone a little wider? The second one I took with a polarizer (you can see the edges of it on the colour version, oops) but I think I prefer the B&W version. Any thoughts on these?

Well I guess there is no right answer then....
Still, I suppose nobody hated any of them , which is a step in the right direction.
