No 2 for me Geordie, its really nice. The flare is by far the dominant feature in the first one. Another option for no 2 would be to crop the sky just above the dark band that is higher than the sun. Horizon is out by a tad too
Looked out of the back window this morning and mentioned to the missus that they don't have sunrises like that on weekends

Not so sure. I like the first one (including with the horizon out of alignment, not everything has to be done with a ruler in my eyes).
The first one had (for me) the perfect proportions with the clouds being divided from the rest of the picture by the darker line in the sky, then you got the sun in all its glory with the sea at the back the wave breakers again dividing the picture and leading in the sea and a bit of a 'river' leading from the beach in to the sea. Reflections are where they should be.
I personally can not see anything wrong with number one.
Number two is just a seascape panorama for me and more ordinary.
Sorry but that's me and being honest. Crucify me if you have to but that is how I see it.
