Great idea only the composition is just a bit off, if you had it tilted up a little bit it would have been bettter.

You should have waited for a plain to to land, it would have make for a more dramatic photo

Don't know what you mean by the tilting suggestion, Stefan. You want to have enough of the pebbles in the frame to tell that it is a beach.

And on the wait: I guess on a runway like that you could be in for a long wait...

Yes but it now makes up almost 50% of the shot and that does not work for me.
So the amount of pebbles stays the same but with just a bit more sky to change the balance, that would work better imho.

Thanks for the interest and comments guys.

Yes the point was that the beach is the subject with the runway as the backdrop. It's part of a "Ground-level" series I am doing.

As to the length of the wait - just after I packed up, a plane arrived...but I couldn't get the beach into the shot! lol

This was the best I could manage! It's a shot of a plane landing!

Ken, that is not so impressive as how they land on Sint Maarten

Hi Ken, perhaps a little lightening of the shadows (bottom right). Nice colours and viewpoint at the side. Directly from behind focus would be a challenge. Might not quite be the shot you were after but it`s always worth going for a take.

I'd say the distant hills and sky don't quite work and that heavy shadow across the runway disrupts it too much. Also my own very personal feeling is that the DOF needs to be one thing or the other. Either very shallow or very deep, as it is the out of focus areas aren't blurry enough. But that's probably just me.
