Batteries again (sorry...)

The capacity will be have many Amps per hour drawn the battery will permit before draining. I seriously doubt any digital camera would expect to draw more than the battery could deliver but I wouldn't buy one rated lower than original.

The SRS purchased Hahnel (rated higher than spec just like buying a heavy duty car battery) I tested on holiday worked as fast and for as long as the Pentax branded one and was perfectly made for shape and size down toi that funny little lug they put on it. I think it's a bargain and Pentax like all makes of systems looks to maximise profit from aftersales.

Good for the rich fans out there but I'm happy to take SRS's advice and save thirty quid.

I have 2 Pentax (well, one Samsung...) original batteries and 2 non-OEM batteries that cost a fraction of the Pentax price. I don't notice any practical difference between the two. The number of shots you get out of either means I rarely change batteries "in the field".

The non-OEM batteries have also spectacularly failed to burst into flames or destroy my camera despite a couple of years of use.

Asking why balk at £50 for a battery when you have spent £1000 on a camera is fine. But if you apply that logic to everything then it soon adds up. I have saved roughly £100 on the two batteries. I also have third party wired and wireless remotes which have saved me a further £70-75 versus the pentax models . That £170 has effectively paid for other parts of my kit (my flashgun, say, plus the batteries and charger for it, and a little left over for some odds and sods).

I don't see it as being tight - it's being sensible. The Pentax branded items may have some slight advantages over the non-OEM products but surely not enough to warrant a 600+% mark-up (in the case of the wired remote).

I do, because I can confirm my 7dayshop batts last for days of use - easily long enough to remember to charge the original battery and the other spare. This to me is reasonable and ensures I always have a spare battery to hand plus a further one for backup if i'm away for a week and don't want to take the charger. If the price difference was less i'd probably go for the Pentax battery but the difference is tenfold! I don't see the point of the Hahnel or innov8 as they perform similarly to the 7dayshop ones but cost closer to the original Pentax ones.
