What an interesting....creature? plant? Wonderfully clear and crisp and good dof. Please tell us what it is.

Cheers,

Stephen

Stephen it is what the heading says, when I seen this ready to eat (or use in cooking) it looked too good as I thought it would make a nice photo.
When I put it on the computor I thought it would make a goodcrop, because it looked sinister to me.

My goodness! Didn't even notice the heading. Yes, indeed basil it is. Pesto anyone? As for the original shot, I don't find it too bright or harsh. Maybe my monitor, but I like the shot as it is.

This post now convinces me to look more closely at plants, etc. How interesting 'macro' can be.

Thanks for the clarification.

Cheers,

Stephen

The background looks to have a lot of noise and the subject is not in focus. As you used flash, did it really need ISO 800?

This was also taken very late at night, perhaps a daylight shot would yield a better image.

All of the above is helpful I used auto every thing, focus, green mode, tri pod, remote, any other reason this could be out of focus.

when I have a good look at higher magnification it appears to be in focus midpoint.

Yes it was late at night probably should have gone to bed tried next day.

Thanks for that I will have a think about it.
