Banding
I've seen banding when using a polariser shot with a wide lens not sure if that helps.

George
I can see no banding at all.
I've played around with exposure, brightness, contrast etc. Nada.
By 'banding', do you mean the sky colour changing from white'ish at left, to blue at right?
I suppose you could call it three bands in that sense, that merge into one another.
Is that what you mean?
I used to get it all the time on the K10D, it drove me crazy until I got used to exposing for sky, not foreground. The K-5 is much better in that regard.

I have seen this effect before but for the life of me, at the moment, I cannot remember where.
Must be a senior thing!
Roger.
I opened it too and the banding was there initially (Picasa viewer) then the colours changed themselves and the banding went away after a second or so.
I can't believe that's what Mike's seeing - the clipping is bad enough

It looks to me like there's enough headroom left in the RAW file to recover from the clipping, if it bothers you. I've noticed the K-5 RAW files can cope with about one stop of clipping before things start getting messy, but then I normally enable highlight correction.
