Ballicom International

The price of the MX1 is beginning to fall (at last) and is almost within the reach of cash-strapped pensioners.

Has anyone had dealings with a firm called Ballicom International? It's registered in the UK, promises swift delivery and has the camera at £186.49, much cheaper than traditional companies.

I've never heard of them but that's nothing unusual, as I don't buy much new equipment.

I've used them, can't recall for what, but do know I had no issues.

Seems like a good price but am I right in thinking that you only get one year warranty unless purchased from a Pentax Pro dealer where it would be two?

Couldn't see an address on their website and yet they appear to offer a collection option. Why only one for sale?

I have collected from them a couple of years ago, not camera gear but a computer monitor, I can't remember the address but I will still see if I have the receipt, What I can remember is that it is very close to the Coventry Transport museum as we called in after.
It is the only dealings I have had with them but it was a positive one, you collect from quite a large warehouse with a dedicated collection office.

Thanks everyone, very helpful, they sound pretty genuine. Naturally while I have been collecting information and deliberating, they sold their only example... He who hesitates and all that.

However, prices seem to be on the move a little as there's a number of other companies selling the camera for under £190 (yes, I know, a lot of money for a camera without a viewfinder and a small sensor, but it does take very nice pictures). No two year warranty but a considerable saving of £35-£40.
