You pretty much can't go wrong with a Lowepro bag. I have 4! Saying that, my main two bags are both Kata, witch are also great bags and worth looking at.

Do you know which of your bags you would then recommend? It's to carry nothing but the camera and its 18-55 lens.
K3iii, K3ii, K-5, K-x, DA150-450mm, DA16-85WR, DA16-45, DA18-55WR, DA18-135WR, DA35 F2.4, M100mm F4 Macro, DA55-300mm, FA50mm 1.4, AF360 Flash, AF540 Flash

To use a bag to carry a camera/lens around and then use it is one thing. Using the bag for permanent storage reduces air flow, maintains temperature and won't let moisture out. Next thing is you have got fungus.

Sorry David, but I am utterly disputing this!!
All my kit lives in bags and I have never had this issue.... EVER! The key is the user not the bag. If I am using kit in damp/wet or cold conditions, I make sure the kit is dry or warm before returning it to their bags. In wet conditions I use good quality rain sleeves but use also a lens heater to prevent condensation. I don't only use heaters for long session night photography. I also have silica pouches in all my bags, including all my astro kit. Also all my kit lives in my living room, so it is stored in a warm dry place. When my kit lives in my van over night, it is wrapped in duvets to insulate it all!!
These are actions I perform to protect all my kit.
People who put stuff away cold or damp, then store it in inappropriate conditions are asking for issues!
Follow simple rules, and your kit can live in their bags happily with zero issues!

I will agree with that absolutely! My comment was simply aimed at 'putting it in a bag', as if the bag was the ultimate protection. My own stuff lives in a heated room either on the desk or on shelving with lots of air around it. ..... The devil here is dust !

Just an aside for info - useful Tip; I purchased a dehumidifier and not for the camera 'room' however as it's a bit too noisey for our bedroom I place it at the camera room doorway. Also may I add you can fit a HEPA pollen/mould spores/dust/etc filter that will clean the air, it does have a filter that you can clean, and this does catch a fair amount of dust, I vacuum it fortnightly approx.

The LowePro bags I have are 3 x Nova 3, and 2 x Nova 2 bags.
A Nova 2 might suite your purpose.

The small Nova bags are useful for camera, lens, flash and charger cables all in one place.

The camera is for my brother who likely will never even remove the lens. It's going to be his first DSLR. Currently he has a tiny Ricoh compact, so I am keen to get him a bag that is small. The K-r seems remarkably small and light so all he needs is a bag for just that. I will research the Nova ones.

Bags are such personal things. We've ended up with masses of them, none of which at the time could be resisted. The smaller the better for the situation envisaged as any exceess weight or bulk will only discourage the kit being being taken places. Another bigger bag can be bought later, and almost certainly will be if the bug bites.
However, at first just camera with lens fitted and a spare battery are needed to carry the kit around. It should be easy to open and access the interior and preferably with a strap that can be worn across the shoulders so it's not constantly slipping off. A trip to a local camera shop should find something suitable.
Hope that helps!

I have seen the Lowepro TLZ10 - does anyone have this bag? Will it be too small? If this is the case (excuse pun!) then I would imagine the TLZ20 is the best.
If anyone has any other suggestions then please advise.
