Ian, it seems that a lot of people here - myself included - have suffered unjustified negative feedback. It pisses us off but there isn't much any of us can do about it. It will still wrankle you but you just have to write it down to experience. Sadly, there are a lot of people out there who have lost a lot more, a pal of mine lost £1600 on a camera that never existed but he was duped by a totally convincing fake ebay page. He thinks the seller 'sold' it six times.

Seems like you got yourself into a real pickle with this guy
I know there are quite a few suspect sellers on E-bay and you know what the postage will be before paying for it so i believe you just have to hope that they do the right thing and the item gets to you in one piece no matter what they charge. And if you think he over charged you just cross him off your list of preferred sellers in future. He is only hurting himself.

I sold a camera bag to a guy and he paid using Pay Pal i sent him a payment recieved notice and i was going to ship it on the following Monday.
He sent me 3 e-mails over the weekend saying he had accidently paid for the item twice and could i put the cash for the second payment into the bag before i shipped it Yeah right mate AS IF I left an IOU signed by Saddam Hussien in the bag instead

A useful tool is www.toolhaus.org. You can go there, put in an eBayers name and it will give you a consolidated list of all neutrals negs and withdrawn feedback either received or left. It certainly saves sifting through pages and pages of feedback.

Thanks for that Kim i always grumbled to myself when sifting through feedback and cussing E-bay as too why they don't let you just look at the negs.

I finally got a reply from ebay today saying there is nothing they can do unless the seller withdraws his non payment dispute..but.. they have said that as soon as it finishes to contact them and they will remove the strike and the negative feedback as they accept I have proved I paid for the item promptly and acted with justification on the feedback left..

It'll be great if they remove the strike against you.

But it's very disappointing that they'll take no action against the seller. If sellers can get away with accusing people of non-payment, when eBay themselves have seen the proof that the accusation is spurious, there's nothing stopping them from continuing to act in that manner.

At this point I'd be tempted to post my reciepts and proof of payment on flicker and post another negative feedback on his ebay account with a link, and a note warning others.
Fired many shots. Didn't kill anything.

Hi,

Do not forget, you can do a reply to the f/b he left AND add another on your f/b left for him...you can do 'follow-up' feedback.

This guy has business premises in Stoke-on-Trent (presumably a shop) and advertises in AP magazine occassionally.

If you email him before one of his ebay autions ends (like I did) asking specifically what postal service he uses, he purposely ignores these emails, so as to make sure you do not know he is charging £10-12 for 2nd class un-insured mail. So if you buy anything with a value of over £32 and it goes missing, you are screwed. He does not take paypal so he can avoid any chargebacks from his MANY unhappy customers.

The simple rule is ALWAYS check all the negs and neutrals any ebay seller has, ALSO look for patterns in the f/b, like the one he has for not contacting people...this is a warning sign. ALSO look for any signs of feedback removal...this is also a bad sign and hints the seller is manipulating the f/b system (like him) in order to get ebay to remove negs.

cheers Steve.M.
