Very nice series! I would not have cropped away parts of the beak but looking at your series here I find it was the right thing to do.
First one is probably the best of the series in terms of composition.
Not so keen on the bokeh, makes the background a bit too busy. Maybe by blurring the background a bit you could emphasize the main subject a bit more.

My Favorite is number two. I like the intense look that the bird is giving. I love seeing both of his eyes.
I find the subject sharp and it keeps me engaged in the details of the bird.

Thank you Prieni ! Actually these are not cropped at all - what you see is what there is ! I specifically wanted to try this zoo technique, if the zoo elements interfere with the framing of your shot at all then eliminate them entirely but doing close-ups or abstracts then there is no reference to where the shots were taken. I did this with a zebra and a friend of mine from SA had done the same thing - of course it's impossible to tell one was taken on safari and the other 10 miles from my home !
