That is one evil looking critter! Reminds me of that (mythical?) story about using ant heads to sew up wounds, I don't think I ever quite believed it before!
I prefer the head-on angle but they are both impressive.

Ha! You've got the 1/4 scale cousins of the mongrels in the 'Vic Alps' Don - they are over an inch long. If they get into you, you know about it. I was hiking up near Mount Bogong in the '70s and a girl in the group sat down on a log full of 'em. They had to get her back down the mountain for medical help. Very BAD ANTS.

Good Shots Don,
The first one has great composition and I love the angle you took to accentuate that agressive pose. The detail is good and my only negative comment would be that it looks a little over exposed (could be my laptop screen though)
How did you get it to stay still enough to photograph? I have tried several times and they just leggit when they see me.
