Pity the background ridges aren't horizontal, but perhaps a straight-on shot wasn't possible.

It's actually interesting because the horizontals don't line up. I like the composition but wonder whether it was possible to raise the camera a little to get a bit more symmetry with the top and bottom bits of the blinds.
All the gear with no idea

Prefer the original myself. Something about the symmetry of the background and the lack of straight lines in the foreground in the second one jars a bit.

Agree. The picture needs all its twizzly bits and height rather than width.Prefer the original myself.
