B&W is quite easy to do it yourself I believe, why not try it?

I forgot the name but a WWII photographers use 4 helmets 2 filled with chemicals and the other 2 with water and under a dark moonless night he developed his film like that.

True Stefan, but until you've practised a bit it's not that easy to do it well.

It took me a while to get the knack of loading a film spiral and to get to the point where processing a film was down to a fine art - a relaxed and stress free process.

If you want to do this though you will eventually produce just the negatives you want.

Thank you John, still might be a fun, it would certainly add to the whole photography experience.

Robert Capa developed film in his helmet with chemicals he found in bombed out buildings. (apparently).

It is relatively easy to develop your own film. The chemicals can be bought online. Some shops still stock them. The tanks to develop in can be bought on ebay. You can download the recipes from Ilford in PDF form. There will probably be a book in your charity shop for a couple of quid.

There are videos on youtube. Just search for "developing film".

My husband got into b&w photography for a while, and went the whole hog, developing it himself. The fad didn't last but we still have all the gear cluttering up the place. Might put it on the net for sale one of these years and see what we can get for it.

The Agfa Rondinax daylight developing tanks make life easier, although you do need to be careful that the film feeds onto the drum properly. The way you cut the end of the film is crucial.

That's the Rondinax 35u model.

If you search ebay they come up regularly and sell between £15 and £30.

But make sure thatit's all there.

There's a manual here and get chemicals etc here to give you an idea.
