Arnside Viaduct

Stayed at Arnside last week, the viaduct may not be the most impressive but does take a nice picture! Especially with the right light.
PP in LR Classic - I'me likely to have messed up the colours!

That's a nice set Antony - and as you say, the right light gives them an even better "look". It's not as easy as you've made it look to provide this variety and quality

Lovely set. Sooo many happy memories of Arnside.

What you need are lenses, more lenses, bigger lenses, better lenses, faster lenses, vintage lenses and when you have these, your pictures will be perfect!

These are beautiful images, but No. 3 particularly resonates.

The one with the railings is particularly nice. I don't like the livery of the Intercity125 however in the first shot. Makes it look like a toy train with 4-wheeled trucks!

Excellent set of images, gorgeous light expertly captured, great job! Nr 3 really stands out to me.

Many thanks for your comments; a real steam train on the viaduct would be no match for the modern offerings.

A pleasing range of colours. I would guess that you were probably at about
90 degrees to the direction of the Sun in late afternoon?

There is a location somewhere to the east of your distant shots that gives a more oblique but unobstructed view of the viaduct which has featured steam tours in the rail mags.

It is a Northern Trains class 195 diesel multiple unit in company livery, used throughout the North on local and inter-urban services. The doors are highlighted in a contrasting colour for the visually impaired and are at 1/3 & 2/3 along the carriage length.

For me too - in the 1980s my parents from their home in Yorkshire holidayed in Arnside several times, and I would travel from Hertfordshire to spend a few days with them there.

The view I am thinking of is further to the north/east to give a much less side-on view of the viaduct. Perhaps it was a drone shot that I saw?

Sorry PG, I was referring to Antony's comment on 29/10/21.

Like the opening image with the viaduct and the branches top left and bottom right, although I may crop a little off the bottom to balance it up better. The railing shot I really like also. I don't think you've messed up the colours - I think they look good.

Tidy!
