Are these M42 lenses worth bringing back?

Hi all, I am in the process of clearing my fathers house in Australia. There are a number of interesting M42 lenses I have found and I wanted to see if anyone here knew if they are worth bringing back to the UK for use or sale. I cannot mount them at the moment. A couple of them are ones i have never seen before:


Duo-Tamron 135mm f4.5 / 225mm f7.7 - I have never seen anything like this before. Very compact and solid, it looks early, possibly 1950s. It has a very nice rounded aperture. Comes in a leather zip case with hood and scres on front cap. This includes the adapter that makes it into a 225mm f7.7 lens. It looks like it could be a T mount with the original M42 adapter.

Oreston Meyer Optik Gorlitz 50mm f1.8 Zebra style - a bit hazed around the edges of the front element and the aperture sticks once in a while when it is set to f22

Hanimar Automatic 35mm f2.8 - seems to work well. Glass pretty clear, odd bits of dust inside

Boxed Swallow double rail bellows - looks in good condition, cannot see any wear on the bellows bit

Petri Penta with 50mm f2 Kuribayashi c.c. Petri Orikkor - Mirror is up, not sure if this is working but clean looking body. Nice compact lens but it has a bit of haze. Looks 1960s?

Helios 44M 4 58mm f2 - bit of dust inside but seems ok.

Helios 44M 58mm f2 ?Older USSR version with 8 blade aperture. Bit of dust inside but all seems to work as expected

Going from my limited experience and research I'd say the 2 Helios lenses are probably worth bringing back to use or sell.

The Hanimar is a budget version of a budget lens range...the ones that were better were marked Hanimex. I should imagine quite poor on digital, but for portraits who knows, could be great.

The Helios lenses are crude but effective and might be worth trying out.

The Duo-Tamron looks interesting and might be successful on eBay.

I had a Hanimex 135mm f2.8 in K-mount... It was truly awful... I didn't even try to sell it on, just binned it to save you all from wasting your pennies on it...

Thanks guys, that has helped a bit, I think I know which ones I would like to try out now. Luggage capacity is becoming the deciding factor, so I think the Petri is staying here. I will bring back the more interesting ones and try them out I think.

If luggage capacity is becoming a factor you could always send some of your clothes back by post to make room for important stuff

Actually I was thinking about just dumping the clothes, except that I need them as packing . Postage is expensive here now as well.

Hand luggage the lot if that is still possible

Postage too costly John, estimate is about £60 for . I used to always carry my pentax metal primes in my suitcase and never had any problems, but I mo longer trust the airlines for manhandling luggage. They will be safely in sight in the overhead locker, probably with more legroom than me!

No one has mentioned the bellows, I think they are a definite must bring, the lenses with haze I would forget.
