Anyone shoot panos?

I've shot a few panoramics but i'm not into "stitching" i find the sigma 10-20mm gives an excellent perspective.After i've taken the image and uploaded to pc i usually crop both top and bottom to leave the final image.

I don' t think 35mm would be wide enough personally.But i hope you prove me wrong.

I have shot a few. Not with a pano head though so they are not that brilliant. I use my 17-70 for it at about 30mm, and stitch them in PSE 6.
PSE 6 does struggle with big panoramas though .
I prefer a stitched panorama, even without a pano head to the 10-20 perspective to be honest. The 10-20 makes everything look a bit squashed even when cropped to look like a panorama. One reason it's on my list to go.

for stitched panos 35mm will be fantastic, obviously it would be much too long for a single shot crop job.
I use Hugin to do my stitching, it can handle as many images as you can give it although you'd better have plenty of RAM to edit the final result!
Unless you have a proper pano head for your tripod, stick your thumb under the aperture ring and rotate around that point. Close enough for most things.

I shot this pano just recently using the DA 35mm macro. It was 6 shots stitched together using Arcsoft Panorama Maker 4. It does a great job of seamless stiching.
I wish I could show you the full size version. which is 8000x2800pixels

Use a tripod, have the camera in portait orientation, Take the 6 shots, overlapping them a little as you work your way along your subject.
Download to your PC and open them in the Arcsoft software. select them all in the correct order and select stitch, The software does the rest.
Save it and open in Photoshop and process.
Quite easy really.

Clarky, I hate to talk down this otherwise great picture. But....on my monitor (which is calibrated) the sky gives away the stitching.
Specially around the middle four joins. Sorry

Sorry but I have to agree with Martin. On my uncalibrated monitor I can see the joins too. It is otherwise a great picture.
Earlier versions of the PSE/PS stitching program were pretty useless but since PSE6 it has really improved and I never get stitching joins in my photos unless I messed up the exposure. What's more it'll sort out the order for you too.

Same here, can see them too when Martin and Gwyn said it, didn't really looked for it before. The middle four joints can be seen but the outer ones are so good as unnoticeable here.
Would you like to denote the photo for a test Clarky, I'm curious if Autodesk Stitcher does a better job for that money.

Stefan, I never got around to it. I wanted them for a "fotoatelier" at our local cultural centre, but I stopped with it when I realised we would be away for the final few meetings.
I have got a couple now from my US trip that I am going to get printed. Maybe as birthday cards too.

It's in Den Haag, also a bit out of the way but closer and the price looks reasonable.
They say "afwijkende formaten mogelijk" so they probable also can print panoramas.
I truly have no idea how good there prints are.

Go for it guys, see what you can do, I didn't notice it really until it was brought up, but definately can see the darker vertical bands.

I'm currently looking at new lens options and the DA 35mm is on my list, looks like it would be pretty good for panos with it's minimal distortion
