The Sigma gets mixed reviews but a lot of people say it is a great lens. I use the Pentax FA 31 f1.8, which does the job very nicely but costs twice as much. Is it worth the extra? Dunno really, because like most people I don't own both to do a genuine comparison.

the Sigma 20, 24 and 28/1.8 lenses are good. The older 28/1.8 manual focus lens is much smaller than the current AF models.
The Pentax SMC-FA 35/2.0 is a lovely lens, sharp wide open, good bokeh, fully compatible with all K mount cameras.

I'm looking for any lens shorter than 50mm and f1.8 wide or wider (Sigma 30mm f1.4 etc). I'm not even sure of the full range available that fit my criteria.
I had a 50mm f1.7 lens which I loved but had to 'step back' a lot. So I sold it and got a 17-50 f2.8 but it just doesn't do the job for bokeh/portraits (I have two young kids)
Cheers,
Pa.
