Having posted a few series threads already I've found it really interesting to here which ones people prefer, and ideally why so here's another set, this time all the photographs are of Llyn Gwynant.

They are all terrific landscapes, and again it's a privilege to see such a strong set of different studies of a location together like this.

#1 and #4 particularly catch my eye. Although I also like the more 'isolated feature' type of landscape images represented by #2 and #5, I find something really special about an extensive, complex landscape presented in really good light - and #s 1 and 4 really compel the eye to explore across the image. I also like seeing the Llyn in its wider landscape. If pushed to pick one it would be 'winter frost' due to the foreground interest. The foreground fields on #1 don't look very sharp/ clear on the device I'm viewing on, although the image is stunning.

Well... You did say 'ideally why'

Fantastic photo's as always - I live in the same part of the world as you but never manage to prodcue anything like that

These images seem to be processed differently than your others? Maybe a change in 'tweaking' or change of lens perhaps?

Thanks for the comments and detailed feedback...to answer a couple of points:

Shot 1 isn't as compositionally strong as I would have hoped, the reason being I saw the mist as I drove down the valley and only had a few minutes to get there, setup the tripod and take the photo before it disappeared...I think I get away with it here though as the wonderful mist acts as the main focus for the shot so hides the not so great composition.

Processing wise shots 2 & 5 have been been re-edited just this morning based on feedback elsewhere...in these, especially 2, it's all about the lighting so I think the extra strong contrast makes the most of it and whilst some detail is lost in the shadows I think on balance it works, certainly moreso than my oroginal edits which were far too light and lacked contrast

1, 3 and 4 are my favourites - all stunning though
K10D, K5 plus plenty of clueless enthusiasm.

Great shots, Simon. Nant Gwynant is a favourite spot of ours.
Best wishes,

Andrew

Thanks Andrew...it's a favourite of mine too, every time I'm passing I end up stopping and trying to take another photo that's different from the ones I already have...it's increasingly difficult as I have quite a few
