Salters Brook Moor

Back to work tomorrow after taking an extended xmas break, during which I'd planned to get out hiking and photographing in the Peak District as much as possible. But the continuous gloom under deep cloud and sporadic drizzle largely put pay to that plan.

Nevertheless, in the spirit of running with the conditions I walked up to the top of Longdendale on Friday - just about the gloomiest, most desolate stretch of moorland around here. These were taken on the old cart track originally used to take salt from Cheshire over the moors to Yorkshire.

No claims for any great merit to these, but at least I've got some snaps from my hols

Decent shots number 3 just edges it for me

I planned to get put hiking recently as well but the weather and man flu conspired against me until yesterday - only a short hike though

I think they have merit, in particular the first and last. I've tried that fence line shot as well but can't capture what I have in my mind.

Coloured ones for me. You did well to get some great looking colour from fairly unforgiving 'material'.

They certainly show the bleakness of the area especially #1. Prefer #4, #2, #1 then #3.
