Got nothing to offer, only that our sky here was annoyingly blue today, yet again. Apart from the odd vapour trail, of course.

The airlines are not paying compensation to the would be passengers - The Government will not compensate the Airlines. Perhaps the good old European Courts will rule that Iceland Compensates everyone!

David

I don't blame the authorities for locking down our airspace or the airlines for mitigating their liability by refusing to let us check in. The only data we had on ash and jet engines indicated a potentially fatal mix. OK, it was based on a sample of 2, which was never a v satisfactory base to work off.

It's open to arguement as to whether enough was done soon enough to evaluate the risk of this particular cloud, or whether a verticle no fly zone approach should have been applied (ie stay below 20000ft if you're landing in Europe, above x,000ft if not). If I was a 747 pilot, don't think I'd have been v quick to volunteer to test fly in the ash cloud unless my CEO was in the co-pilot seat and my potential widow was guarrantee a v big pay out.

Anyway, looks like I'll be waving Sydney a fond fairwell 18.45 local time. Going to be a big party going on that A340-300 all the wall to Dubai . To my PU mates in NSW - sorry team - looks like we're taking the good weather with us

I hate it when I'm directed to a 'free download' only to find I have to make an 'account'.

If it's free why do they want my e-mail, name and address?

Sun's gone down and so is the temperature, but the pie's cooking nicely.

bombardier is only £1 a bottle at Morrisons at the moment, nice!
Cheers, HG
