Oops!

The top's just fallen off a bottle of Adnams Lighthouse!

I'll just have to drink it now.

6 for €3.50 here
A pint of Peroni in Edinburgh. £4.10!
Is that all year round or only when they've got half the media industry of London (who're used to paying more than that) in town for the festival?

Have you still got the BMW 'spider
No

I had my last ride a couple of months ago and then bid it a fond farewell.

TBH I was finding it increasingly difficult to get in and out of, how these "midlife crisis" grandads drive around in sports cars I'll never know
Anyway I have a shiny new Qashqai which is a darned site easier on the back, the only problem is it doesn't go round corners quite like the Beamer did, on the bright side though I've gone up from 28mpg Urban to over 40mpg urban and I have a lot more toys to play with

The Qashqai is a superb car 'spider.

All that space in the back for bringing 'presents' back from abroad.

But I need a step ladder to clean it

Ah the Cashcow.
We hired the American equivalent, the Rogue, a couple of years ago in Phoenix.
Nice car and it coped with some naughty, not allowed by the hire company, off roading very well.
Very comfy. Last year we had a RAV4 which was also very comfortable.

Not heard it called that one yet (I quite like it)

Though I've heard it called a "Quashy" on several occasions.

.....and I will certainly not be off roading with mine

Get some OS maps, find the legal rights of way near you, and give it a go! You'll find some cracking scenery to photograph and have a great time too. Here's my Disco pretending to be a boat on a byway near me:

Note: Joining a reputable 4x4 club is strongly recommended, if only because you'll have someone to tow you out if you get stuck!

Go on 'spider give it a go.

It'll only get dirty from the waste down so you wont need to wash the roof.

DM's right about the photo chances as well, I'm sure your lovely wife would go with you and help push you out if you got stuck, and the car as well!

Well done to the HG family then! All the effort made worthwhile. Ours finishes secondary school at the end of 2011...

Finally managed a night out at the Fringe last night.

Phil Kay at 9. Possibly the worst show in the history of the universe. Spent most of the night talking to his 4 year old son rather than perfroming his show. If anyone was thinking about going, I would strongly recommend against it.

Thankfully Jason Burn's midnight show was as good as ever.
