I hope i'm not boring everyone with my bugs pics Well too bad here's another
I like this one with the flower and the fly looks so content, he even appears to have a smile on his face

that is an amazing photograph...an inspiration.

MX you missed what we have loads of . . . . . . . . . rain, floods, bad weather and a falling stock market to add to the gloom.

Clarky, I reckon you are spending much too much time around bugs if you can recognise if one is smiling or not.

I think it's a very good photo. Good DOF in the right places and excellent OOF background. It's almost like the fly posed for you. Well done.

You sound like my wife, she also thinks i find the bugs more interesting than her. I will shut up now

Again a superb shot Clarky. Good lightning and good angle of the fly.

Nice smile on it's face - agree

I might have cropped the flower to avoid any distractions from the fly.

I thought of cropping the flower but i love the look of it and couldn't bring myself to do it.
Besides i have many nice shots of the Hoverfly but not so many that look like this one

It's easy to get caught up with the urge to get closer, closer, closer!, when better, or at least different, pictures can be had by showing the subject in it's environment.

Nice shot by the way. I'd be tempted to crop a bit off the right hand side - although this cuts across the leaf, I think it tightens the composition up and gives better balance between the hoverfly and flower. Also, it looks a little cold to me, which I'm sure it wasn't.

Roll on Summer (or at least Spring).
