An idea for when using big lenses in showery conditions...

Don't know if anyone would be interested but...

I recently got a Sigma DC 150-500mm zoom and was wondering how to keep it dry when out shooting in between showers. The idea I came up with was to use a folding dry bag. This is a fully water proofed bag where you fold the top down and then use clips to form a circle and this seals the top! Climbers, cavers and kayakers will know what I mean...

It's easy to carry round and also very easy to get a camera with a big lens on, in and out!

Here's some pictures to give you and idea:

I just found it a pain in the rear to use a rucksack (I have a lumber bag) or bag with a big lens to get in and out. So I had a think and thought I would try this...

The other bonus is that the bag I got to fit was only £7.10!!!

Note: This is only for sheltering it from downpours as it is not padded!

Spad,

I have just made a suggestion on the Lake District Meet thread. Why not buy a cheap rain jacket or waterproof trousers (the nylon ones with the elasticated wrists or leg bottoms) from a charity shop cut off a sleeve or leg and then feed the camera and lens down the sleeve or leg until it just pops though the elastic. You can push back any surplus from the camera body so that you can still see the viewfinder and you have a waterproof cover.

That would certainly be a a cheap way of doing it to.

This was just an idea for carrying it in, in between rain showers with rapid easy access and not have to fanny about getting it in and out of camera bags or rucksacks!!

But you can get rain sleeves for that.... Look here - I am gonna get one of these for when I am down at Donnington!

NOTE: I really need to proof read things... I spend more time correcting spelling mistakes than writing the post!

I've got the OP/Tech rain sleeves. They work excellent when I remember to take them with me.
