Well, after the aggro I've had with Amazon and my K-r I will not be spending another penny with them.

They seem to be of the opinion that the 'Sales of Goods Act' and European legislation does not apply to them.
Based in Switzerland for VAT as well as Corporation tax in today's news it seems.

Starbucks is way more complicated with Dutch and Swiss bases to maximise tax avoidance. Until recently there weren't even any branches of Starbucks here. Mores the pity there are a few now.

Google is as bad. And the Rolling Stones are also based in the Netherlands for tax purposes.

If all those companies paid more tax here, as well as in the UK maybe our taxes could be lower. Current income tax rates here start at 33.1% on incomes to €18,945, and go up to 52% for incomes over €56,492.
Next year all the rates go up again.

I feel sorry for Starbucks being dragged into this. They don't own any stores, they are all owned by franchises who pay income tax and vat etc... Franchisees buy stock and the licensing rights from Starbucks so when the press shout ey have this huge turnover, it's actually reporting the turnover of all the stores.

As for the rest, well they're doing nothing illegal, may not be morally right but not illegal.

As for Margaret Hodge, I think she should look carefully herself before wagging fingers at these companies..

Just back to the second-hand equipment photos.

Although some, such as LCE, do try and put photographs up, I have always found with reputable second hand shops (ie specialist camera retailers who sell used equipment) that the simplest thing is to phone them.

I've done this with SRS, LCE and Park and in all cases they have given me a completely accurate description and on the rare occasions I have returned things there has never been an issue.

Which can't be said of all second hand marketplaces.

SRS are selling a used DA 55-300mm lens on their site at £209 with a 6 month warranty. Yet on eBay they are selling a DA 55-300mm lens (including image of it) for £209 with a 12 month warranty. Am I missing something here? Considering they pay eBay fees you'd have thought the warranty would have been the other way round.

Have you ordered anything from them, and did they deliver OK?
Yes my K5 - arrived the following day. Pentax took ages with the cash back though, but it did arrive

Can't say I've noticed that Stan. Even before my super-fast connection it loaded OK for me.
I've always found it slow to load and it's worse out of hours. They often take days to answer emails too to such an extent I've purchased elsewhere.
I have purchased from them by having Mrs Snap telephone and their service has been ok.
Bit worrying that.

It's not, honestly. I've had nothing but first class service from them in common with most people on the forum. E-mails replied to promptly and everything sent next day delivery. My internet connection is apalling, barely above 0.5mbps on a good day and their site loads no faster or slower than any other site.

I'd have no hesitation recommending them and the 2 year warranty is a bonus.

If anything went wrong with it, are they helpful in repairing it? if so how do I send it off to them?
