Alternative competition entries

This was an inspiring theme for the fortnightly competition. Here are three more that I considered as entries:

The first is easy, just having one with coffee as I type.

The second got me puzzled. Specially because you entered it as an instrument of time. It looks like something spray painted with some gold.
But the woven nylon string at the bottom confuses me the most. You obviously used a macro lens, so maybe it is just very small. And part of something obvious.Could be something like a part of a electrical system or component. But as an Instrument of time:::

The last one: maybe a cylinder, metal kind of ::, used in the kitchen or bathroom.

The blades behind #3 give it away as an electric shaver foil. (I think)

RR, you're probably right - at first I thought about a kind of a filter (ie washer / dishwasher). And #2 - is it some part of a tassel being a decoration on a grandfather clock?

Well, #1 and #3 you cracked. #2 is a time machine but not in the physical sense... So, no, nothing to do with the grandfather clock.
And Martin, you are right about the gold.
Have you read my comment for the competition entry? I thought that should give a clue.

Well, I certainly know of some shops in Southampton. And there should be some shops in every city where you can get these magical instruments...

Is the missing EXIF of any significance :

No, missing EXIF is not of significance. As I wasn't using it as the competition entry I saved for WEB from Photoshop. It was taken with the Sigma 105/2.8 Macro, F9.5, 1/3 s, ISO 200.

And I thought that it would be a bit too obvious at first...

No Aiki, it is no musical instrument at all.

BTW: The gold does not come with this "thing" as standard. Only for selected varieties. But I wouldn't call it uncommon...
