AF button and BG-2 grip

Hi

Can anyone give me a work-around for the problem I am having.

I usually use my AF button for focussing and disable the shutter release button for this. Since I got the battery grip though I have found that I have to change back to how it was originally with the focussing on the shutter button as I can't reach the AF button when in portrait mode.

I have tried setting up the USER mode with my preferred settings for when I'm using the camera in portrait orientation but when I change back to say AV after USER the option I have chosen for focus (ie. shutter button) stays the same.

So i guess what I am asking is this:

Can I have my camera set-up with AF button for focusing and not shutter release, but also when I flip it into USER mode it will change the focusing back to the shutter release instead of the AF button and back again when I change it back to AV ?.

Is there any work-around for this ?

Thanks

Jason,
Unfortunately there's no work around that I'm aware of. I have long thumbs that just about reach the AF button when using the grip.
I have told Pentax (I'm sure their diminutive Japanese testers would have spotted this design issue!)... but nothing's changed.
It would have made sense to reallocate one of the grip buttons for this purpose
