AF-540FGZ Locking pin removal

Mine kept jamming inside for month. (never while extended and locked to the camera) With enough use it seems to have loosened up. Now it works fine every time.
All it does is keep your flash from slipping loose... at which point it may inadvertently hit the wrong pins. Dunno if that might cause damage on firing, but at the very least your flash may need to be repeatedly pushed back in place. (The locking ring isn't enough to hold it securely.
So you'll probably want to try to keep the pin if possible.

It seems as if the members of that other forum are all in a frenzy to remove their locking pin from the base of the flashgun.
Anyone here have an issue with it geting jammed on the camera?
Or do we all here know how to correctly install and remove a flashgun?
